About Us
Cortland County Youth Hockey Association (www.ccyha.com):
The CCYHA began in 1972 through the efforts of several concerned parents, teachers, business people, recreation
specialists, and service clubs. They wanted to provide an opportunity for young people throughout Cortland County to
learn the fundamentals of hockey and to develop their ability to play and enjoy the game.

The objectives of the CCYHA is to provide an opportunity for children between the ages of four (4) & seventeen (17) in
Cortland County and the surrounding areas to experience hockey subject to USA Hockey birthday guidelines, to impress
upon the participants the high ideals of sportsmanship and fair play under all circumstances and conditions, to provide the
best instruction in hockey under a positive learning environment, to instill a sense of honesty, loyalty, courage, and
respect, to promote, encourage, represent and govern Youth Hockey in the Cortland County area, to protect the mutual
interest of its members, to field teams at a variety of competitive levels which may include but not be limited to recreational
and highly competitive teams, to treat each participant fairly, and to advance the skill level of our players and coaches.

The CCYHA is a duly registered member of USA HOCKEY (formerly A.H.A.U.S., www.usahockey.com) as well as the
New York State Amateur Hockey Association (NYSAHA, www.usahockey.com/new_york/main/home_new_york/), and
abides by all their rules and regulations governing amateur ice hockey, including the Zero Tolerance Policy. CCYHA is
considered a Tier III or "C" organization for the purposes of "size match up" to other organizations in NY State. The
CCYHA also belongs to the Snow Belt League of Central New York at the Squirt, Peewee and Bantam levels.
